Drought sees farmers join forces to feed winter birds

A GROUP of farmers have vowed to provide food for birds this winter with their natural supplies running low due to Britain's drought.

The growers will offer this lifeline to the animals facing a “hungry gap”, which is the period that spans the colder months when berries, insects and other food sources are scarce. Drought conditions are now expected to continue through to next year unless there is significantly more rain in the coming months, the National Drought Group warned last week.
