Heat break rescues Sinner
JANNIK SINNER came back from the brink and got “lucky” to beat Eliot Spizzirri in four sets on a scorching day in Melbourne.
World No.85 Spizzirri (below) ended Sinner's run of 16 consecutive won sets in Melbourne Park when he took the opener from a break down.
The two-time defending champion looked down and out when he started cramping early in the third set and called the physio.
But play was suspended with the Italian trailing 3-1 so the roof could be closed - and it proved crucial for the No.2 seed, who left the court for a few minutes.
