NEW World whisky is a swiftly emerging market with many drams being created as interest in the spirit continues to grow.

Among the most prominent is Sullivans Cove, on the Australian island state of Tasmania.

Established in 1994, it has quickly become a frontrunner amongst the new genre. Now, to celebrate reaching a quarter-century of maturation, the distillery has announced its latest release.

A 25-year-old is a milestone for any distillery but especially outside the traditional heartlands.

Its release is believed to be the oldest from any continuously operating and dedicated New World distillery.

Andy Gaunt, Sullivans Cove CEO, said: "This release is more than just a rare single cask. It's a living record of our history, proof of what patience and conviction can achieve, and a statement of what world whisky has become. Twenty-five years ago, this was an audacious experiment.

"Today, it stands as proof that with skill, craftsmanship and patience, great whiskies can come from anywhere in the world."
