WE OWE FANS OLD FIRM GLORY
Scottish Daily Express
|August 29, 2025
The Rangers fans have heard enough apologies of late and frankly they are sick of them.
‘They've had their fill of the flimsy promises from management and players so regularly this summer.
They see through halfhearted assurances that the ragged, slapstick lineup constructed by Russell Martin will learn from the repeat set backs they’ve been put through.
They don’t want to listen to preposterous suggestions that a team dithering domestically and now embarrassed abroad is close to clicking.
They don’t want to hear from them, far less watch.
‘That was evident by the sight of hundreds of punters, each who had forked out a small fortune on flights and hotels to follow the Light Blues to Belgium, flooding for the exits long before the final whistle brought Wednesday’s Brugge mauling in the Champions League playoffs to an end.
The battle fever may well descend again in time for Sunday’s opening Old Firm clash but it looks unlikely.
In fact, no-one should be in the least bit surprised if thousands of fans opt to take a sickie. John Souttar is well aware there’s nothing he can say right now that will ease the pain and frustration of the shellshocked fans.
