Trump set to meet Starmer as his visit to Scotland looms

Swinney also plans to catch up with President
DONALD TRUMP will hold talks with Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer during his visit to Scotland later this month, Downing Street said yesterday.
The US President will fly in to spend time at his Scottish golf courses and open new links in Aberdeenshire named in honour of his mother.
The private trip precedes the official state visit in September when Mr Trump and his wife Melania will be hosted by King Charles and Queen Camilla.
A Downing Street spokesman said: “The White House has confirmed that President Trump will be making a private visit to Scotland. Given he is visiting in a private capacity, there will not be a formal bilateral but the Prime Minister is pleased to take up the president’s invite to meet during his stay.”
The Scottish Government also then announced that First Minister John Swinney had “plans” to meet Mr Trump.
