Tributes pour in for teen girl killed in crash

A TEENAGE girl who died in a crash which is now subject to an independent investigation was last night described as "a beautiful soul who lit up every room".

Ellie Douglas was killed when the car she was in collided with a lorry.

The 17-year-old, below, was pronounced dead at the scene in West Lothian on Monday night.

Two other teenagers in the VW Polo with her — an 18-year-old girl and the 20-year-old male driver — were seriously injured and remain in hospital.

The HGV driver was uninjured but has since been arrested and charged in connection with alleged road traffic offences.

It has been confirmed that Police Scotland has referred itself to the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner over the incident.
