Gers Euro hero made mum cry

- By Mark Pirie

FINDLAY CURTIS has gone from the B team to boy wonder for Rangers in just a few months.

This time last year he found the net against Lowland League Bo’ness United to help the second string get off to a winning start in the Challenge Cup.

Now the 19-year-old has done it in the Champions League against Greek heavyweights Panathinaikos with a spectacular goal in only his sixth top team outing.

Drawing the foul that saw defender Georgios Vagiannidis sent-off helped open space and allowed the winger’s replacement Djeidi Gassama to add an equally stunning second goal.

And Curtis revealed his magic moment for Russell Martin’s new-look side in Tuesday’s second round qualifier victory brought tears of joy from proud family members.

He said: “I found out I was starting on Monday morning.

“The manager named the team, and I phoned my mum and dad and they started crying.
