MARKS & Spencer has launched a dessert with a difference — a sandwich filled with strawberries and cream.

The £2.80 Japanese-inspired Red Diamond Strawberry & Creme sarnie comprises the fruit and light whipped cream cheese on fluffy sweetened bread.

It is being released in the run-up to the tennis at Wimbledon next week - famous for its strawberries and cream.

M&S said its limited edition creation took its cue from “sweet sandos”, or fruit sandwiches, which have recently been seen in London’s trendiest Japanese patisseries.
