SNP 'turn blind eye to child sex abuse gangs'
Scottish Daily Express
|September 17, 2025
THE SNP are accused of turning a “blind eye” to grooming gangs in Scotland after blocking attempts to launch an inquiry into the scandal.
The Scottish Tories want a separate probe into reports of rape gangs north of the Border, with one being launched to cover the rest of the UK. Gangs have been busted in Glasgow, with similar cases reported in Dundee and Edinburgh.
However First Minister John Swinney has so far refused to follow the UK Government and commission an independent report.
Figures published earlier this year suggest that 650 cases of “child sexual exploitation” have been recorded in Scotland since 2016, when the category was created on the Child Protection Register after the Rotherham grooming scandal.
