Shinnie: Perfect start but winter blues slowed Dons

GRAEME SHINNIE reckons Aberdeen blew their big chance to split the Old Firm in the Premiership title race this season.

The Dons opened up this season with 10 wins in an unbeaten 11-game start, including a 2-1 Pittodrie win over Rangers last October.
That win took then nine points clear of the Gers, who had a game in hand, but then their form dropped off a cliff as Jimmy Thelin's Reds went 14 league games without a win.
Now the Dons are fighting it out with Hibs and Dundee United to be the best of the rest with a third-place finish in the table.
But skipper Shinnie, 35, said: “It was the perfect start to try and split the Old Firm.
