SCOTS MILITARY EXPERT ACCUSED OF SPYING FOR RUSSIANS

A SCOTTISH military instructor has been detained in Ukraine on suspicion of acting as a Russian spy who was involved in three high-profile killings.

Ross David Cutmore, from Dunfermline, Fife, faces up to 12 years in prison if found guilty.

He was hauled before a judge in Kyiv in October, although the shocking details were only released yesterday.

Ukraine's SBU spy agency said Cutmore, 40, had been detained with the help of the British secret services, including MI6. The former soldier is thought to have travelled to Ukraine in 2024 to help train troops.

But court documents allege he was recruited by agents from the Russian FSB with the promise of "easy money". He is accused of "reconnaissance and sabotage activities” and bringing weapons into the country to be used by Vladimir Putin’s assassins.

Last night, his father — also called Ross — told the Daily Record he had “major concerns” for his son, given that briefings from Ukraine suggested the authorities had already decided his guilt.

The former Royal Marine said his son had only a limited military background after completing less than two months of basic training in the regular army.
