Rohl takes it in his stride as he gets ready to enter lion's den against the wily old fox

THERE should have at least been a hint of apprehension in Danny Rohl's demeanour.

- BY SCOTT MCDERMOTT

Even a flicker of nervousness, surely? After all, at just 36, he's about to enter the Old Firm mayhem for the very first time.

When he steps into the dugout at Hampden tomorrow, he'll look across at a wily old fox.

Martin O'Neill, 37 years his senior with vast experience of this mad, chaotic fixture under his belt.

And Rohl will have to get the better of him at his first attempt.

So the German would have been forgiven for showing some signs of anxiety at his pre-match press conference.

But no. He was as calm and collected as he has been since he walked through the door at Ibrox 12 days ago.

Not a hair out of place and a beaming smile across his face.

Has no one told Rohl what's about to unfold in Mount Florida tomorrow afternoon?

Or what a clash with Celtic means to the blue half of the city?

The truth is, he gets it alright. But you get the impression that nothing will faze him, not even this manic Glasgow derby.

Despite his age, it's easy to forget that Rohl has crammed some pretty impressive experiences of his own into a fledgling coaching career.

As assistant to Hansi Flick at Bayern Munich, he sampled huge games against rivals Borussia Dortmund, as well as winning the Bundesliga and Champions League.

He went to a World Cup with Germany, remember.

And as manager of Sheffield Wednesday, he got a taste of the Steel City derby which isn't exactly a teddy bear's picnic in that part of south Yorkshire.

But through all of that, Rohl has kept his composure.

He believes that's how he HAS to be for his players to feed off it and perform to their best.

And nothing will change now that he's at Rangers.
