Rain and thunder roll in to replace heatwave

GLASGOW and Edinburgh are among swathes of Scotland that have been placed under a weather warning this weekend.

Downpours are expected to sweep across the country, with miserable conditions in stark contrast to last week's heatwave.

A Met Office yellow warning for heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms comes into force at 4pm today and continues until midday tomorrow. The forecaster is warning of the potential for power cuts, flooding and travel disruption with more than 7cm of rain set to fall in some areas during the warning period.
