Pensions 'hammer blow' for mothers

MORE than 100,000 women paid a reduced state pension are unlikely to receive the money in what an expert has branded a “hammer blow”.

Former pensions minister Sir Steve Webb accused the Government of “all but giving up” on the women who have missing National Insurance credits after taking time out of work to raise children.

The Department for Work and Pensions had written to those possibly affected, pointing to an online checker for entitlement and a form to apply.
