Muscat facing a huge challenge to overhaul Gers

- BY SCOTT McDERMOTT

KEVIN MUSCAT might prove to be an inspired choice as Rangers manager.

He wouldn't have been most fans’ first pick to replace Russell Martin - and we know he wasn't the club's top target either.

But he ticks a few boxes. And, given some of the names mentioned as Rangers went around the UK with a scatter gun, he’s at least a credible candidate.

Muscat's experience at Ibrox as a player definitely helps.

The crucial difference between him and Martin is that he was part of a successful, Treble-winning side in 2003.

Also, the 52-year-old is a figurehead, which this club needs as manager.

He’ no-nonsense and doesn't suffer fools gladly. He's a winner, which he’ proved in three different countries, and his teams play an attacking, aggressive style of football.

Unlike Martin, he wants to get the ball forward as quickly as possible. Which, for any Old Firm boss, should be a prerequisite.

So those are the positives.

What are the negatives?

Firstly, there’s a debate as to whether winning titles in Australia, Japan and China should really merit a crack at being Rangers gaffer.

If Muscat hadn't been part of that Alex McLeish squad 22 years ago, would he even be in the conversation?

Having read his explosive Insta post I felt something weird about Brooklyn... pity

I ALWAYS had Brooklyn Beckham down as a thick, spoiled, entitled nepo baby — the kind of young man who, thank God, was born into huge wealth and privilege, because it was clear he wasn’t equipped to make his own way in the world.
