Auction find... notation believed to be 9th century
A MANUSCRIPT believed to be the earliest written example of modern Western music and dating from the 9th century is up for auction.
Document enthusiast Nathan Raab bought the vellum leaf from a London auction house after spotting penstrokes and dots, called notations, between lines of Latin text.
