Nats complain about UK cash for councils

THE Scottish Government has been condemned after complaining about struggling local communities receiving much-needed public cash — because it comes directly from Westminster.

Nationalist ministers get billions in Barnett Consequentials to spend on what they want with this being siphoned off to pay for priorities such as benefits.

In recent years, Westminster governments have decided to bypass the Scottish Executive to hand over money to councils for certain projects.

However, this has led to growing anger within the SNP due to claims it is “not respecting” devolution.
