Nationwide members cash in as banks boost divis

NATIONWIDE returned £2.8billion to members last year while the big high street banks used excess capital to up payouts for shareholders.

Natwest hiked its dividend 26% from 2023 to 21.5p and distributed £4bn to shareholders. Barclays and Lloyds delivered £3bn and £3.6bn to investors as ver of Virgin Money last year.
