Murder accused said he had been 'trying to get rid of her', trial told

Doctor tells High Court of remark

A CANADIAN accused of murdering his girlfriend later told a doctor that he had been trying to get “rid of her for a while”, a court has has heard.

Aren Pearson is on trial accused of killing Claire Leveque.

It is said to have happened at his mother’s home, pictured right, on Shetland in February last year.

Yesterday, on the third day of the 41-year-old’s trial at the High Court in Edinburgh, evidence was heard about what was said to have happened in the hours following the alleged murder.

Following the discovery of 24-year-old Ms Leveque’s body in a hot tub, Pearson had been taken to the Gilbert Bain Hospital in Lerwick.
