JAVIER MASCHERANO heaped praise on the commitment of Lionel Messi after Inter Miami's goalless draw with AI Ahly in the opening game of the Club World Cup yesterday at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

The 37-year-old, above, was unable to inspire his side to victory over the Egyptian champions in Group A.
Inter keeper Oscar Ustari saved a penalty in the first half from AI Ahly forward Trezeguet, while opposite number Mohamed El Shenawy for the Cairo side denied Messi in stoppage time at the end of the game, turning the former Barcelona star's effort against the bar.
