Mahmood: Barracks ‘just the start’ for migrant sites

Site in Crowborough has basic facilities and had a police presence yesterday

Twenty-seven men, who arrived in the UK on small boats, were bussed into the Crowborough Training Camp with a police escort at 3.30am, following months of local protests.

The East Sussex barracks, previously used for Army and RAF cadets, police and firefighters, will eventually house 540 men.

Ms Mahmood, below, who may face a legal challenge by Wealden district council, vowed to ram through more migrant accommodation on “large sites” as the government closes asylum hotels. But MPs have warned that the Home Office is “yet to demonstrate it has a credible plan” to do it.
