Madeleine sister tells of 'creepy' messages from woman in stalking trial

MADELEINE McCann’s sister yesterday called a woman who claims to be her missing sibling “creepy” and said she was “playing with my emotions”.

Amelie McCann told a court she did not need to do a DNA test to prove that alleged stalker Julia Wandelt was not related, insisting: “I always knew that she wasn’t Madeleine.”

Prosecutors allege Wandelt, of Lubin in Poland, peddled the lie that she was Madeleine, who vanished aged three in Portugal in 2007, while stalking her parents, bombarding them with emails and calls as well as visiting their home.

Amelie told the jury her mother Kate was “stressed and on edge” after Wandelt turned up, calling the appearance an invasion’ of their privacy. Wandelt allegedly called Mrs McCann “mum” in the unexpected encounter.
