Imbalance...just 1% of new properties are bungalows despite being favoured by older people

NEARLY two in five homeowners aged 55-plus would prefer a bungalow as their next home, a survey has revealed.

But there is a chronic shortage, with just 1% of all new home registrations last year being the single-storey properties.

This is a huge drop from 1990 when 11% of homes built were bungalows, according to the National House Building Council.
