It shouldn't have taken this long to follow verdict'

Assistant Chief Constable Catriona Paton, below, said: "Police Scotland has issued interim guidance for police officers and staff on access and use of workplace toilets, changing facilities and shower rooms.

“The guidance was developed following extensive advice from our legal team and independent human rights advisor, as well as engagement with relevant business areas and staff associations.”

Scottish Tory shadow equalities minister Tess White MSP said: “This is a welcome U-turn, but it should never have taken this long for Police Scotland to follow the Supreme Court’s verdict.

“If Police Scotland can now belatedly follow the law and ensure that women and girls have access to single-sex spaces, then what is the SNP government’s excuse?
