Iran and UK summon each other's diplomats in spying arrest storm
Scottish Daily Express
|May 20, 2025
BRITAIN and Iran summoned each other’s diplomats yesterday after the UK charged three Iranians under a national security law following a major counter-terrorism investigation.
The Government said it had demanded that Iranian ambassador Seyed Ali Mousavi appear at the Foreign Office to be grilled over Iran’s activity in the UK.
And Iran summoned the British charge d'affaires in Tehran over the arrests of its nationals, calling the accusations “false claims”.
It came as the Government vowed to proscribe Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organisation after foiling a suspected atrocity.
Enemy spy agencies will face terror-ism-style crackdowns to prevent them plotting assassinations, kidnapping and sabotage, Home Secretary Yvette Cooper vowed.
