HOOPS GRAB CITY TEENAGER ON LOAN

CELTIC have won the race to sign Manchester City prodigy Jahmai SimpsonPusey on a season-long loan.

The Hoops and French outfit Strasbourg were in the running to land the highly-rated defender, left.

But City boss Pep Guardiola has given the green light for his rising star to spend the campaign at Parkhead.

And that's a major coup for Brendan Rodgers, who has been in the market for defensive cover following the exits of Maik Nawrocki and Gustaf Lagerbielke.

Celts have Cameron Carter-Vickers, Auston Trusty, Liam Scales and Dane Murray vying for starts at centre-back.

But the Hoops are ready to sanction the exit of out-of-favour Stephen Welsh, with Plymouth Argyle keen on the 25-year-old.

That leaves room for another stopper to join the fold and Simpson-Pusey, 19, fits the bill.
