Ski boss hits out at net zero
THE boss of Britain's oldest snows ports centre has branded net zero policies “complete lunacy” after fixing a power deal that has seen him pay £80,000 for electricity, but almost a staggering £250,000 in green and standing charges.
Andy Meldrum, who runs Glencoe Mountain Resort, and is chair of Ski Scotland, saw his electricity bill rise by 25% when he went to fix a new two-year deal through a broker. But the real shock was the £247,836 on top in various charges, mainly related to net zero policies.
"This is completely mental," he said. “The actual cost for our electricity over the next two years is projected to be £80,000, however the non commodity costs are an extra £247,000. So less than 25% of our bill is now the cost of the electricity.
