Goodwin urges Ferry to cap a dream call-up

JIM GOODWIN has urged Will Ferry to seize the chance and win his first Republic of Ireland cap.

The Dundee United left wing-back is in the Irish squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Portugal and Armenia.

The 24-year-old, below, was handed his first call-up by Heimir Hallgrimsson after Sammie Szmodics and Callum O'Dowda pulled out through injury.

United's Irish manager Goodwin insists Ferry is good enough to make his mark on the international scene.

He said:

“What Will did last season he has carried on into this year, he's shown real consistency.

“But it just shows you always have something to play for because there's always someone watching.
