DRIVERS who were overcharged on car finance deals are being urged to take action now to boost their chances of winning compensation under a new scheme designed by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

Get motoring for payback

Last week's Supreme Court ruling may have killed off the idea of a £44billion compensation bonanza, but the FCA has stepped in to say that redress is still coming.

It won't be as big, and not everyone will qualify, but some claimants could still receive up to £950 per agreement. In households with multiple vehicles, that figure could multiply. But how much you get will depend on the cost of your motor and terms of your loan.

If you took out a car finance deal between 2007 and January 2021, and weren't told how the interest rate was set, you may have a claim. Especially if the agreement involved a so-called discretionary commission arrangement (DCA).
