Gatwick tops list for worst flight delays

GATWICK Airport has been named worst for flight delays as it continues to suffer air traffic control disruption.

Departures from the West Sussex hub were typically more than 23 minutes late last year, according to analysis of Civil Aviation Authority data.

This was, however, 27 minutes better than the previous 12 months.

Our second busiest airport was hit by ATC staff shortages in its own control tower and across Europe.

Birmingham was second worst with hold-ups of more than 21 minutes, followed by Manchester's 20 minutes.
