Fast-food firms failing to back British spuds

JUST two of the 15 biggest fast-food chains serving chips are committed to buying British potatoes, research shows.

McDonald's and Honest Burger publicly state they will use only UK spuds.

Another chain Popeyes says it ensures most of its ingredients come from this country.

But the other 12 offer no information on the origin of their potatoes, according to the analysis.

While it is likely British potatoes are used in some instances, without a specific commitment they are free to source from a range of countries.
