Family's tribute to tragic 'hero' Emilis

THE teenager who drowned in a river on the hottest day of the year was last night hailed a hero by his family.
Emilis Vanagas, 15, died after getting into difficulty in the River Kelvin in Glasgow.
Relatives have claimed the tragedy will help save the lives of two other youngsters.
Police said that they did not have any record of other persons being in the water at the time of the tragedy.
It happened on the Saturday when temperatures in Scotland hit 32C.
The alarm was raised after reports of a youth in the water at Maryhill.
Emergency services attended around 6.40pm but it was not until around 11.30pm that Emilis’ body was recovered.
Yesterday, his devastated mother paid tribute to her child who was known to friends as “Emz”.
Daiva Daivute, said: “My heart is broken, my dear son.
