Ibrox board urged to pull plug on Martin or write off entire season

- By Andy Newport

RANGERS chiefs must pull the plug on their Russell Martin experiment or face another trophyless season, according to ex-Ibrox forward Greg Stewart.

Beleaguered boss Martin is facing a full-scale fan revolt after Saturday's 2-0 home defeat to Hearts left his side languishing 10th in the Premiership, only a point above the relegation slots.

Stewart joined calls for a managerial change after the weekend shocker left the Light Blues nine points behind early pacesetters Celtic and Hearts.

The club's American owners are standing by their man despite fans uniting in one voice at Ibrox to tell the manager to "get to f**k".

But Stewart a member of the club's 2021 title-winning squad and lifelong supporter - accused Martin of making the Gers players "look 10 times worse than they are" and says Rangers will need to "write off" this season unless the board act now.

And he knows exactly who should replace Martin - his former gaffer Steven Gerrard.
