DONOVAN'S READY TO FIGHT FOR HIS JERSEY

COLBY DONOVAN insists he won't give up his Celtic jersey without a fight.

- BY RYAN MCDONALD

The Hoops starlet, left, has excelled in the wake of injuries to Alistair Johnston and Anthony Ralston.

Thrown in by Brendan Rodgers, the 19-year-old has slotted in seamlessly at rightback and was outstanding in Wednesday night's 1-1 Europa League draw in Belgrade.

But with Ralston now back in training and long-term crock Johnston edging closer to a return, the rookie defender may soon find himself back on the sidelines.

Donovan has loved every minute of his unexpected run of games. However, the Scotland Under-19 sensation - who Rodgers has tipped as a future Parkhead star - believes he's ready to battle experienced duo Johnston and Ralston for a start.

He said: "Yes, you've got to fight for your spot in the team, and whoever the gaffer puts in he's got total trust in him.

"I'm just happy with what I'm doing just now. I'm just taking it game by game, as many minutes as I can get in a Celtic top.
