Dog walker was murdered by prisoner released early
Scottish Daily Express
|July 10, 2025
A MAN who had been living off-grid to avoid being recalled to prison was yesterday found guilty of murdering a dog walker.
Anita Rose, 57, had been out on a morning stroll last July when she was set upon by Roy Barclay, 56, in what prosecutors described as a “vicious and brutal attack”.
Barclay, who had previously been convicted and jailed over a 2015 assault on a pensioner, had been wanted on recall at the time over a breach of his licence conditions, police said.
The defendant had been released from prison in 2020 but had not been living at a fixed address.
Barclay had denied murdering Ms Rose but jurors at Ipswich Crown Court found him guilty after around two and a half hours of deliberation.
