Delivery man who killed cyclist jailed for six years

A DRIVER who was reading delivery notes seconds before he knocked down and killed a dad-of-two cycling to work has been jailed for six years.

Philip Scott had been distracted and not concentrating on the road at the time, a court was told.

Sentencing him yesterday, a judge slated Scott, 40, for trying to minimise his role in the death of Euan Thomson, 32.

Lady Hood, sitting at the High Court in Edinburgh said it was “heartbreaking” to read of the impact of the tragedy on his family.

She added: “That was the morning their world fell apart.”
