JIMMY THELIN has assured Alfie Dorrington, Kenan Bilalovic, Mitchel Frame and Kjartan Mar Kjartansson they will still have important parts to play in Aberdeen’s season.

- By Scott Burns

The four summer signings have all been left out of the Dons squad for their Conference League group stage campaign.

Thelin had to submit his squad by 11am on Tuesday and had some big decisions to make to bring in his new signing Jesper Karlsson, while Kevin Nisbet and Stuart Armstrong ticked the box as association-trained.

The Scottish Cup-winning boss also had to find space for Kristers Tobers and Emmanuel Gyamfi, who were left out of the squad for the Europa League playoff with FCSB because of injury.

Dorrington, right, played in the defeat to the Romanians and Kjartansson was named in the squad before he was taken out and replaced by Bilalovic.

Now all three will be forced to watch the European games against Shakhtar Donetsk, AEK Athens, Noah, AEK Larnaca, Strasbourg and Sparta Prague from the stands.
