CALL FOR PROBE INTO MATERNITY SERVICES

SCOTTISH Labour has called for a national investigation into the state of maternity and neonatal services in Scotland following a series of alarming inspection reports.

The party will hold a debate at Holyrood today, sounding the alarm about patient safety for both mothers and newborns.

Last week an inspection report highlighted failures in the maternity unit at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, and a previous inspection in Ninewells hospital in Dundee painted a similarly worrying picture.
