Appalling recruitment made sacking inevitable, says Ally
ALLY MCCOIST insists the double sacking of Patrick Stewart and Kevin Thelwell was inevitable after "appalling" recruitment and says it shows the club's American owners will stop at nothing to bring success to Rangers.
Ibrox chairman Andrew Cavenagh made a bombshell move on Monday when he binned both CEO Stewart and sporting director Thelwell.
The pair had become major targets for furious fans in recent weeks after protesting supporters also got their wish in the removal of former boss Russell Martin.
McCoist admits their departure was no surprise following a shambolic summer spending spree, with Thelwell - whose son Robbie was recently hired and remains in a key recruitment role - revealing a £20million net spend on the squad.
The Gers legend, inset, said: "The departures of Patrick Stewart and Kevin Thelwell are not a shock, not a surprise. I've been constant with this all along, the recruitment has been appalling Not poor, not bad. Appalling.
