Household staff take centre stage in new series of the Netflix hit
BRIDGERTON is back today — and this time fans will get to have a look at the lives of the downstairs staff, all with the usual romance from the get-go.
When Benedict Bridgerton, played by Luke Thompson, meets a mysterious girl in a silver dress at a masquerade ball, he is obsessed.
Little does he know she is maid Sophie Baek, played by Yerin Ha, who slipped into the party wearing a mask.
Ha, 28, who is a newcomer to the hit Netflix show’s cast, says: “What drew me to Sophie as a character was her strong moral compass.
“She doesn't change who she is for anybody else.
“She is faced with a lot of obstacles, but she moves through them with such grace and kindness.”
This series, the action centres on the Bridgerton family’s bohemian second son Benedict, who had previously refused to settle down until he meets this mysterious stranger.
He enlists his sister Eloise, played by Claudia Jessie, to find her, all the while wondering why he's so drawn to maid Sophie.
Actor Luke, 37, says: “We have experienced Benedict through the seasons as a little theme that crops up occasionally now and again.
“To get to spend a full eight episodes digging into him and making a whole symphony about him, it’s great.”
He adds: “For the first time, we’re going downstairs and finding out about all the servants who work there.
