Asylum seekers just want to get some work

ASYLUM seekers living in a 'migrants hotel' say they don't understand the hatred — and want to become police officers or zookeepers.

The group were speaking at a Holiday Inn Express in Oxford during Saturday's protest. Around 20 of them stood outside the hotel with the protection of security watching the demonstration and noise of the counter protests outside.

One man, who did not want to be named, came to the UK from Afghanistan in March 2024. He has been living at the Holiday Inn Express hotel all that time, he said.

When asked how he felt about those protesting against him, he said: "Not happy. Not happy at all."

He said he couldn't understand why they were so against him and his friends living in the hotel.
