Marko reveals he hatched plan with Ante on bench to get Dons out of jail in Paisley

MARKO LAZETIC revealed he struck up a plan with Aberdeen teammate Ante Palaversa after discovering they would both start on the bench.

The pair combined to dump St Mirren in stoppage time with a stunning last-gasp winner.

Palaversa opened up the Saints backline and the ex-AC Milan striker chased down a lost cause before sliding past Marcus Fraser and knocking into the far corner past Shamal George.

After ripping his shirt off in celebration to seal Aberdeen's first away win since April and first win in Paisley since December 2018, the Serbian hailed his teammates for overcoming a poor start to the season to climb off the bottom of the Premiership.

He said: "I spoke to Ante before the game, when we knew both of us were not going to start, and we talked about how he was going to assist me for a goal when we came on - thankfully it happened!

"The booking was absolutely worth it, I don't care!

"I'm just so thankful. The team has worked so hard to overcome the obstacles we had in the beginning of the season. It's such a new team with a lot of new players.
