£35m tower could be torn down in light row
Scottish Daily Express
|March 20, 2025
A RETIRED couple who say a 17-storey office tower is blocking the light in their apartment are suing in a case that could see the £35million building torn down.
Stephen and Jennifer Powell claim the Arbor Tower is reducing the natural light getting into their £1million sixth-floor apartment.
The newer block is part of the £2billion Bankside Yards development, in Central London’s South Bank, and was completed in 2021. The site is eventually set to consist of eight towers, including “mega-structures” 50 storeys high.
But Arbor could face “demolition” after the Powells and their seventh-floor neighbour Kevin Cooper sued, seeking an injunction to protect their right of light.
