Holiday Nostalgia

Nostalgia. If there was ever a word I could most closely associate with my favorite parts of the holiday season, it's nostalgia.Of course, being a Millennial who grew up in Philadelphia, nothing sparks more nostalgia for me than the Christmas Light show at John Wanamaker's department store.

However, after hearing that Macy's in this location had closed earlier this year, it seemed this staple of Philadelphia Christmas tradition would become a thing of the past.

So, I was pleasantly surprised to find a press release and invitation to the season's inaugural show in my inbox. I was thrilled! I would get to share a part of my childhood with my two youngest boys (Ellington, 7 years old, and Hendrix, 9 years old)!

On a Friday morning, I suited them in their finest Eagles attire (the Birds were scheduled to play that afternoon) and headed downtown. Part of me expected to see a ghost town, with the light show as the only attraction; however, we found the space filled with vendors and holiday cheer. They were selling everything from beautiful handcrafted Christmas ornaments and clothing from local designers to Eagles merch, of course, as well as food and beverages.
