The 25th Annual African American Women in Cinema (AAWIC) Film Festival marked a historic milestone this spring, celebrating its 25th anniversary with a dynamic three-day hybrid festival held May 15-17, 2025, at LaGuardia Community College in Queens, NY.

AAWICFF continues to be one of the nation's most vital platforms for elevating women filmmakersâespecially women of colorâthrough screenings, workshops, keynote panels, and annual awards that spotlight excellence across the entertainment industry.
This yearâs festivities featured powerful red-carpet moments, industry access for emerging creators, and deeply moving tributes. Saturday nightâs featured screening of The Rebel Girls brought the celebration to a close with a story of resilience and voice, followed by an awards ceremony attended by New York State Assembly Member Stefani L. Zinerman, Nicole Ari Parker, and Boris Kodjoe.
