INTERNATIONAL Youth Day, celebrated on August 12, served as a reminder of the profound potential our youth have as agents of change in our communities, and for building a better world.

- FLORA TECKIE

Young people are our most valuable resource for the advancement of communities. Through an appropriate education that releases their great potential they can exert influence upon world developments and the creation of a productive, progressive, and peaceful society.

The Bahá'í International Community, in one of its statements titled: "The Role of Youth in an Ever-Advancing Civilisation", says: “In the young people of the world lies a vast reservoir of capacity to advance the constructive transformation of society. Experience has consistently demonstrated that the desire to bring about positive change and the ability to render meaningful service to the common good are characteristic of the period of youth, irrespective of background or personal circumstance”.

Youth are full of energy and enthusiasm, and it is within their power to contribute significantly to shaping the societies of the future and the communities in which they live.
