Learning is a lifelong process

INTERNATIONAL Literacy Day on September 8, is a reminder of the critical need to ensure that education is provided to all.

Acquiring knowledge is not a once-off act. Learning is a lifelong process. And of course, no one should be deprived of literacy, as it isa crucial aspect of universal education, and the catalyst for the advancement of individuals and communities.

The Universal House of Justice, the international governing council of the Baha'i Faith states: “The cause of universal education ... deserves the utmost support that the governments of the world can lend it. For ignorance is indisputably the principal reason for the decline and fall of peoples and the perpetuation of prejudice. No nation can achieve success unless education is accorded all its citizens”.

Education is a fundamental human tight, and it is vital to the development of individual potential, and opens the door for the enjoyment of the full range of other human rights. It is key to the empowerment of masses and must be provided to all.
