Durban City’s Premiership credentials to be tested by champions

DURBAN City’s fairytale return to the Betway Premiership faces its sternest examination yet when they visit champions Mamelodi Sundowns at the Lucas Moripe Stadium tonight (8pm).

- SMISO MSOMI

Gavin Hunt's side have made a statement in their first topflight campaign, claiming three wins, two draws, and suffering just one defeat across their opening six matches. That return has them firmly mid-table and, more importantly, carrying the belief that they belong among the elite.

Their next hurdle, though, is as formidable as it gets. Sundowns, who have dominated domestic football for more than a decade, remain the standard-bearers of the Premiership.

They have already reestablished their rhythm after an uneven start and will enter the fixture looking to impose their usual authority at home.
