Programme of events has lots for everyone...

There are a number of highlights in the Rutherglen 900 programme.

There are events taking place in all the primary schools every month of 2026 including the 'Growing, Milling and Baking' project in partnership with Grow 73.

This reflects Rutherglen’s history of mills, and the local tradition of making sour oat cakes. Each school will be gifted a planter, and pupils will go on a process of sowing, harvesting wheat and oats which culminates in a storytelling event where the children will share and eat the bread they bake.
