New Harry Potter actor gets backing from star Radcliffe

New Harry Potter star Dominic McLaughlin received a magical surprise - a letter from the actor who originally played the character.

Original Daniel Radcliffe starred in the film versions of the books

The schoolboy honed his acting craft in Cambuslang and has been cast to play the iconic Hogwarts role of Harry Potter in an upcoming TV show.

And when he appeared on Scottish-based CBBC show Saturday Mashup, the hosts asked him about the letter he received from Daniel Radcliffe.

Dominic said: "I got letter from the man himself, Daniel Radcliffe

"It was insane, I was on the train back up to Glasgow, because we were going home, and my dad just tapped me on the train and he gave me this letter and I read it and I got to the bottom and it said 'Dan R'.

The young actor didn't reveal what Radcliffe said in the letter, but added: "I was going mad."
